How it works

  1. Drop your form. Any PDF, already fillable or completely flat. Emboss finds the fields either way.
  2. Add your documents. Required, and where the magic happens: paystubs, prior filings, spreadsheets, IDs. Emboss reads them and pulls the right values into the right fields.
  3. Download the filled PDF. A finished, still-editable PDF, usually in about a minute for a short form and a few minutes for longer ones. Review any field before you send it on.

Common questions

What file types can I upload?
Your form must be a PDF of up to 10 MB and 100 pages. Context documents can be PDF, Word (DOCX), Excel (XLSX), CSV, JSON, plain text or Markdown, or an image (PNG, JPG, TIFF or BMP): up to 5 files of up to 10 MB each, with 30 MB for the form and its documents together.
Is it free to try?
Yes. Every account includes a monthly free allowance on jobs of 5 pages or fewer, counting your documents along with the form, so your first fills cost nothing. Past that, pricing is usage-based per form, no subscription.
What happens to my files?
Your documents are used only to fill your form, never sold, and our AI providers aren't permitted to train on them. Filled forms stay in your account until you delete them, unless your account deletes documents after use.
Do I get a fillable PDF or a flattened one?
Both filled and still editable: Emboss returns a fillable PDF with your values in place, so you can review and adjust any field before sending it on. When it is final, the free Lock a filled form tool can lock it so nothing can be edited.
Does it work on scanned or flat PDFs?
Yes. Emboss detects fields on flat PDFs that have no form fields at all, including scans, then creates the fillable fields and fills them from your documents. On a scanned form, text is read in English, on the first 30 pages.
