# Use Emboss in Claude

Connect Emboss to Claude and fill PDF forms right from a chat: make a flat PDF
fillable, fill it from notes or documents you paste or attach, or fill it for
every row of a spreadsheet. Everything Claude does runs through the same
Emboss API, billed at the normal per-form rate with the same free tier as
everywhere else.

Works inside Claude: connect Emboss once and use it from any conversation.

## Connect from Claude.ai or Claude Desktop

Click the button above, then:

1. Sign in to Emboss when asked.
2. Click **Allow** to authorize the connector.

Claude can now call Emboss whenever a conversation needs a form filled.

## Connect from Claude Code

Then run `/mcp` inside Claude Code and authorize the connector.

### Install the plugin

The Emboss plugin adds the connector plus three ready-made commands for
Claude Code: `/emboss:make-fillable`, `/emboss:fill-pdf`, and
`/emboss:batch-fill`.

Then run `/mcp` inside Claude Code and sign in to authorize the connector.

## Add the skill in Claude.ai

The Emboss skill teaches Claude.ai how to use the connector for form-filling
tasks. The connector itself is still added with the **Connect Emboss to
Claude** button above; the skill is a separate, optional add-on.

1. Download the skill:

2. In Claude.ai, go to **Settings**, then **Features**, and upload the zip.

## Use it from the API

Add Emboss as an MCP server on a Messages API call, with the
`authorization_token` you get from the OAuth flow above:

## Three things to try

- **"Make this PDF fillable."** Attach a flat PDF and Claude detects its
  fields, using the create-a-form tool.
- **"Fill this form from these notes."** Attach a form and one or more
  context documents; Claude matches the values, using the fill-from-context
  tool.
- **"Fill this form for every row in this spreadsheet."** Attach a form and a
  spreadsheet; Claude maps the columns and fills one PDF per row, using the
  batch-fill tools.

## What Claude can see

Once connected, Claude can see every form in your Emboss account: it can list
them and open their fields and files. If you allowed changes, it can also
create, fill and delete forms and send faxes billed to your account. It acts
only when you ask it to in a conversation. You can disconnect it at any time
from **Dashboard**, then **Account**, then **Connected apps**.

Forms filled through Claude bill the same as forms filled through the API:
see [Pricing](/pricing) for the current rates and free tier. If a request
would go over your free tier with no card on file, Emboss returns a 402 and
Claude will let you know so you can add a card or wait for the next cycle.
